Joni Lamb, founder of one of the world’s largest Christian TV networks, dies at 65

(SeaPRwire) –   Joni Lamb, who co-founded the Daystar Television Network with her late husband and helped transform it into one of the largest Christian TV networks globally, passed away Thursday at the age of 65.

Lamb, who served as the network’s president, had been dealing with serious health challenges before suffering a back injury that worsened her condition, according to a statement released by the network. The cause of death was not disclosed.

“Joni’s love for the Lord and for the people we serve shaped this ministry from the beginning,” stated the board of directors for the network.

The organization confirmed that its mission will continue and emphasized that Lamb had ensured a capable leadership team was in place.

She and her husband, Marcus Lamb, who died in 2021, launched their broadcasting efforts in the Dallas area in 1993 with just a single station. Five years later, Joni Lamb began hosting her popular daily women’s program.

Headquartered in Bedford, Texas, the Daystar Television Network expanded to broadcast across more than 200 countries and has featured programming from prominent evangelists such as Joel Osteen and T.D. Jakes.

The network reported reaching approximately 2.3 billion homes worldwide.

Rooted in Pentecostalism—a Christian tradition characterized by spirit-filled worship and belief in contemporary miracles and spiritual warfare—the ministry reflected these core tenets.

In addition to her behind-the-scenes leadership roles, Joni Lamb frequently appeared on air as host of “Joni Table Talk,” where she discussed current events and personal matters.

In 2010, she stood alongside her late husband when he publicly admitted on television to having an affair with a woman from several years prior. Marcus Lamb also claimed that three individuals attempted to blackmail him for money to remain silent about the incident.

Upon learning of his infidelity, Joni Lamb described feeling devastated but shared that she prayed to the Holy Spirit, who responded, “He’s worth fighting for.”

The couple declared that they had reconciled their marriage and expressed hope to keep the matter private moving forward.

“All you can do is tell the truth and take your pain and use it to try to help someone else,” Joni Lamb remarked.

After the passing of her first husband at age 64, she married Doug Weiss two years later. Together, they co-hosted the show “Ministry Now.”
