All Agenda Items at BioNTech SE’s 2026 Annual General Meeting Are Approved by Shareholders

(SeaPRwire) –   MAINZ, Germany, May 15, 2026 — BioNTech SE (Nasdaq: BNTX, “BioNTech” or the “Company”) convened its Annual General Meeting (“AGM”) today. A total of 92% of the share capital was represented at the virtual meeting. All resolutions put forward on the agenda items were approved by a majority of shareholders.

BioNTech is intensifying its focus on the Company’s expanding late-stage oncology pipeline while continuing discovery and early research efforts aimed at long-term innovation. As a result, shareholders have approved increasing the Supervisory Board from six to eight members and adding new expertise: Prof. Iris Löw-Friedrich, M.D., Ph.D., and Susanne Schaffert, Ph.D., were elected as new Supervisory Board members.

Iris Löw-Friedrich brings extensive experience in clinical development and broad expertise across scientific and medical fields. She also holds knowledge in sales and commercialization, management, innovation, and international markets relevant to the Company.
She serves as an experienced Supervisory Board member and adjunct professor of internal medicine at Goethe University Frankfurt am Main’s Faculty of Medicine.

Susanne Schaffert is a supervisory board member in the healthcare sector, including at Merck KGaA. She has specialized expertise in oncology, as well as in sales and commercialization with a strong focus on product launches. Her background encompasses innovation, research and development, and organizational leadership and management.

Additionally, shareholders approved renewing the mandates of BioNTech’s Supervisory Board members Helmut Jeggle, Prof. Anja Morawietz, Ph.D., and Prof. Rudolf Staudigl, Ph.D.

Following the AGM, the Supervisory Board elected Helmut Jeggle as its Chairman during a subsequent session.
