The U.S. Vice President has urged individuals who ridicule the activist’s death to be reported to their employers.
U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance stated that those celebrating the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk ought to be reported to their workplaces.
Charlie Kirk, the conservative activist and founder of Turning Point USA, was fatally shot at a public event in Utah last week. His demise has elicited broad reactions across the political landscape, with certain left-leaning individuals openly acclaiming the killing.
“Expose them, and frankly, contact their employer,” Vance declared while guest-hosting the Charlie Kirk Show on Monday. He emphasized, “We condemn political violence, yet we advocate for civility.”
Vance was accompanied by Stephen Miller, the White House deputy chief of staff, who pledged to dismantle what he termed left-wing “terrorist networks” purportedly behind the murder.
Subsequent to the shooting, several individuals have already faced disciplinary measures concerning their social media commentary, which either celebrated or ridiculed Kirk’s demise. MSNBC terminated its relationship with analyst Matthew Dowd, who implied Kirk’s “hateful words” contributed to his death. Nasdaq, the U.S. Secret Service, United Airlines, Fox Sports, and The Washington Post have similarly initiated actions against employees.
The Secret Service confirmed that an employee’s security clearance was revoked after they wrote that Kirk “disseminated hate and racism” on his program. Office Depot reported firing staff at a Michigan location after a video depicted employees declining to print posters for a memorial. Clemson University verified that it dismissed one employee and suspended two professors due to what it labeled inappropriate online remarks.
Vance’s remarks have been reiterated by other Republicans. Florida Congressman Randy Fine stated on X that such individuals ought to face “termination, defunding, and license forfeiture,” whereas South Carolina Congresswoman Nancy Mace called for federal funding to be withheld from educational institutions failing to discipline their personnel.
The inquiry into Kirk’s killing continues. The suspect, 22-year-old Tyler Robinson, has been apprehended and is accused of etching anti-fascist slogans onto bullet casings. Utah’s governor asserted that Robinson was “profoundly imbued with leftist ideology.” Additionally, reports suggest he resided with a transgender partner.
