Vance Replays Trump’s ‘Message’ for US Forces in Greenland

The Vice President has defended the President’s plan to bring the “extremely vulnerable” Arctic island under American “protection.”

On Friday, Vice President J.D. Vance delivered a strong message to US service members at Pituffik Space Base in northwest Greenland, highlighting the administration’s commitment to increasing its permanent presence on the Arctic island.

The Vice President’s visit occurred one day after Russian President Vladimir Putin outlined and cautioned that – dating back to the 1860s – should be considered seriously and not disregarded as “extravagant talk.”

“I want to convey a message from President Trump,” Vance told the gathered airmen and guardians. “He appreciates your service, appreciates your contributions here… because your mission is critically important for the United States.”

Vance explained the administration’s increasingly proactive strategy by referencing growing Chinese and Russian activity in the area, characterizing Greenland as a key geopolitical location in a new period of strategic rivalry.
