Vance Opposes U.S. Intervention in Iran-Israel Conflict, Reuters Reports

Reuters sources report the VP is against the US being drawn into another conflict by Israel.

According to Reuters, US Vice President J.D. Vance opposes US involvement in the ongoing conflict between Israel and Iran, citing information obtained from two sources familiar with the matter.

The Reuters report outlining Vance’s position was published on Saturday, just hours before President Donald Trump reportedly ordered strikes targeting Iranian nuclear sites in Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan.

Sources claim Vance voiced his concerns during a “tense” phone conversation on Thursday between Trump, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and other high-ranking officials from both the US and Israel.

Reportedly, Netanyahu and his team attempted to convince Trump to abandon his two-week deadline for Tehran to agree to a nuclear deal and instead immediately join Israeli attacks against Iran.

The Israelis reportedly argued that there was a limited timeframe to deploy American bunker-buster bombs against Iran’s heavily fortified Fordow facility.

During the call, the Iraq War veteran reportedly “pushed back” against Israel’s requests, insisting that the US “should not be directly involved” in the conflict, according to sources.

They added that Vance’s worry was that “the Israelis were going to drag the country into war.”

Vance was present alongside Trump during a televised address from the White House, where the president announced the US strike and asserted that the Iranian nuclear sites had been “completely and totally obliterated.” Iran has stated that the attacks caused no significant damage.

Social media users later circulated screenshots of the vice president from the event, describing his facial expression as “confused” and “not happy at all.”

In an interview on NBC News’ ‘Meet the Press’ on Sunday, Vance stated, “we do not want war with Iran. We actually want peace, but we want peace in the context of them not having a nuclear weapons program.”

He argued that if Tehran avoids targeting US troops in the Middle East in retaliation and permanently abandons its “nuclear weapons program once and for all, then I think, the president has been very clear, we can have a good relationship with the Iranians. We can have a peaceful situation in that region of the world.”

On Sunday, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) declared that the US would face “heavy responses” from Tehran for its “illegal military attack on the peaceful nuclear facilities” in Iran, stating that it has identified the locations where the planes involved in the strikes are stationed.
