The documents were subpoenaed by Republicans after the FBI and Department of Justice stated that the convicted sex offender maintained no “client list.”
The House Oversight and Government Reform Committee has made public over 33,000 pages of records pertaining to the discredited financier and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
On Tuesday evening, the committee published a to the 33,295 pages on its official website.
Chairman James Comer issued a subpoena for these files from the Department of Justice last month. This action followed a review by the DOJ and FBI, which determined that Epstein had not maintained a ‘client list.’ The release of these documents led both Democrats and certain Republicans to allege a coverup by President Donald Trump.
Epstein’s death occurred in 2019 within his Manhattan correctional facility cell, where he was awaiting trial for sex trafficking offenses. The FBI and DOJ verified in July that his death was a suicide. Despite this, the review did not significantly reduce the theories suggesting Epstein might have exploited his contacts and participation in sex trafficking to extort affluent individuals.
Trump has maintained that Democrats have leveraged this case to tarnish his reputation and weaken his presidential term.
