Health Secretary Wes Streeting stated the government is open to collaborating with Elon Musk to combat child sexual abuse.
The UK government will not reject Elon Musk’s offer of assistance in addressing systemic failures concerning child sexual exploitation, according to Health Secretary Wes Streeting.
The UK is grappling with a significant grooming scandal involving groups of primarily Pakistani men who sexually abused and tortured underage British girls, amidst accusations of official cover-ups.
Musk, known for his anti-illegal immigration stance, has strongly criticized this scandal, labeling it “state-sponsored evil.”
He further accused Prime Minister Keir Starmer, the former director of public prosecutions, of complicity, demanding his resignation and prosecution for alleged failures to ensure justice, using strong language to describe Starmer’s alleged involvement.
In a Friday interview with ITV News, Streeting suggested that some of Musk’s criticisms are misguided and misinformed. However, he affirmed the Labor government’s willingness to work with Musk, acknowledging Musk’s potential influence through his social media platform in addressing the issue.
Streeting attributed some failures to address the crimes to political correctness, pledging government efforts to prevent future occurrences.
This grooming gang scandal, a term encompassing widespread child sexual exploitation, gained prominence through cases in Rotherham, Rochdale, and Telford. Investigations revealed decades of systemic abuse, with estimates suggesting over 1,400 children were exploited in Rotherham alone between 1997 and 2013. One particularly disturbing case involved the arrest of a father who tried to rescue his daughter from a rape scene.
Amidst these revelations, some British media outlets criticized law enforcement for their perceived inaction and attempts to downplay the scandal, suggesting this was done to avoid accusations of racism and prevent a rise in the far-right.
