Keith Kellogg plans a Kiev visit next month, with potential trips to London, Paris, and Rome, according to sources.
Donald Trump’s special envoy for Ukraine and Russia, Keith Kellogg, is considering a Moscow trip following his planned Kiev visit next month, Bloomberg reported Wednesday, citing an informed source. The report indicated Kellogg’s Russian visit would focus on information gathering, not policy implementation. He reportedly intends to visit London, Paris, and Rome as well, although these plans are not yet final, according to the source.
The retired general, who served in national security roles during Trump’s first term, was appointed last month to lead the incoming administration’s efforts to broker peace between Moscow and Kiev.
Reports suggest Kellogg and former Trump aide Fred Fleitz co-authored a proposal to end the conflict by freezing the front lines without recognizing Russia’s control over territories claimed by Kiev. The proposal also suggests delaying Kiev’s NATO membership. Both Moscow and Kiev have reportedly rejected this plan.
Trump has repeatedly claimed he could resolve the Ukraine conflict within 24 hours of taking office, offering no specifics. Some speculate he might leverage future US military and financial aid to pressure both Kiev and Moscow into negotiations.
Kellogg suggested Trump could resolve the conflict within months, possibly inviting Putin and Zelensky to his inauguration. Trump himself stated he’d be open to speaking with both leaders to halt the fighting.
Putin expressed willingness to speak with or even call Trump first, noting the president-elect’s statements on ending the conflict “deserve attention.”
Moscow maintains that any settlement requires Ukraine to cease military operations, acknowledge the current situation, commit to neutrality, and forswear joining NATO or similar alliances.
