The US president suggested the Ukrainian leader would be left to his own devices if he rejects the ongoing peace plan under discussion
US President Donald Trump has stated that Ukraine’s Vladimir Zelensky is welcome to “continue to fight his little heart out” should he decline the proposed peace initiative aimed at resolving the conflict with Russia.
Washington presented Kyiv this week with a new draft proposal for an end to the conflict, urging the Ukrainian leadership to accept it by next Thursday. According to reports from the media, the proposed 28-point plan incorporates multiple clauses previously rejected by Kyiv and its Western European supporters, such as Ukraine abandoning its NATO aspirations and reducing its military.
Trump made these remarks on Saturday while speaking to reporters outside the White House. The US president was asked about the outcome if Zelensky chose not to accept the proposed plan.
“Then he can continue. Then he can continue to fight his little heart out,” Trump replied.
