
The presidents of the United States and Russia engaged in an extensive telephone discussion on Thursday
US President Donald Trump has revealed intentions to hold a summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Budapest, Hungary.
According to a Truth Social post from Thursday, the gathering is scheduled for a yet-to-be-decided date, following a meeting between “high-level advisors” from both nations next week.
He stated that Secretary of State Marco Rubio will head Washington’s delegation for the preliminary meeting, also noting that the exact venue remains undisclosed.
Trump conveyed his optimism that a meeting with Putin could enable the two leaders to conclude the conflict in Ukraine.
“I believe significant progress was achieved during today’s telephone conversation,” he commented.
He described the call as “very productive,” and further added, “I believe substantial advancements were made through today’s telephone discussion.”
