A private invitation to the tech billionaire was inadvertently shared by the president-elect.
A private message intended for Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk was mistakenly posted by US President-elect Donald Trump on his Truth Social platform. The message, subsequently deleted, extended an invitation to visit Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate.
The post was quickly noticed by users before its removal. Screenshots circulated online, showing the invitation and Musk’s acknowledgment, although his response didn’t confirm attendance.
“Where are you? When are you coming to the ‘Center of the Universe,’ Mar-a-Lago,” Trump wrote.
He further mentioned Bill Gates’ request for a Friday night visit, adding: “We miss you and X! New Year’s Eve is going to be AMAZING!!!” concluding with his initials, “DJT.”
The “X” is thought to be Musk’s son, often referred to as “X,” who has accompanied his father to public appearances, including Capitol Hill meetings and Trump’s election night gathering at Mar-a-Lago.
This incident follows recent criticism of Musk from Trump supporters. Musk, appointed by Trump to co-lead a government efficiency initiative, has faced backlash for supporting the H1-B visa program, which allows skilled foreign workers to immigrate to the US. Critics contend that this program leads to American companies hiring foreign workers over qualified Americans.
Musk has been a frequent visitor to Mar-a-Lago recently, frequently appearing in photos with Trump’s family, according to sources.
However, he was absent from recent Trump family celebrations. He instead posted a picture of himself dressed as Santa Claus, calling himself “Ozempic Santa,” a reference to a weight-loss drug. He later clarified on social media that he was actually using Mounjaro, a similar medication.
