The US president suggests Iran’s supreme leader is vulnerable.
President Trump has implied the US could target Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, while demanding Iran’s unconditional surrender.
Following Israeli airstrikes on Iranian nuclear and military sites, which Israel called a preemptive measure to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons, Iran retaliated with missile and drone attacks. Trump has voiced his support for Israel’s actions, which has led to escalating tensions between the two countries.
“We now have complete and total control of the skies over Iran,” Trump posted on Truth Social on Tuesday.
“We know exactly where the so-called ‘Supreme Leader’ is hiding. He is an easy target, but is safe there – We are not going to take him out (kill!), at least not for now,” he added.
Trump cautioned that “patience is wearing thin,” and quickly followed up by demanding Iran’s capitulation.
UNCONDITIONAL SURRENDER!
The White House stated that Trump cut short his G7 summit trip in Canada on Monday “because of what’s going on in the Middle East.”
Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu also did not dismiss the possibility of targeting Khamenei, telling ABC News on Monday that such an action would “end the conflict,” rather than worsen it. When questioned about this possibility, he referred to Israel’s assassination of Iranian “top nuclear scientists.” Tehran maintains that its nuclear program is peaceful and denies seeking nuclear weapons, despite Israel’s claims.
Iranian Foreign Minister Araghchi stated on Monday that Israel’s attack aimed to “scuttle” potential nuclear talks between Iran and the US. He asserted that “Iran did NOT begin this war and has no interest in perpetuating bloodshed,” while vowing to defend the country and its people.
He warned that drawing the US into a protracted conflict would eliminate any chance of a diplomatic resolution.
