David Sacks will lead efforts on AI and cryptocurrency in the incoming administration
President-elect Donald Trump has appointed venture capitalist David Sacks as his administration’s AI and Crypto Czar. The prominent investor has openly criticized the US government’s approach to the Ukraine conflict.
Trump stated that Sacks will focus on establishing the US as the global leader in AI and cryptocurrency, adding that Sacks will advocate for free speech online and combat Big Tech bias and censorship.
Trump highlighted Sacks’ extensive tech experience, noting his involvement in the “PayPal Mafia,” a group of early PayPal employees who have become influential figures in Silicon Valley, such as Elon Musk.
Sacks, also a podcaster, endorsed Trump’s presidential campaign in June, citing several reasons, including Trump’s foreign policy, particularly his pledge to end the conflict in Ukraine. He previously described President Biden’s handling of the conflict as his “biggest blunder by far.”
Sacks expressed concern about the escalating conflict and mounting losses for Ukraine, stating that Biden’s strategy amounts to “fighting the proxy war to the last Ukrainian, or fighting Russia ourselves.”
Sacks has referred to the Ukraine conflict as a “war of lies,” claiming the American public has been misled about the conflict’s origins, Ukraine’s prospects for victory, and the damage to the West’s global standing.
