Trump announces $2,000 ‘tariff dividend’ for each American

The US president has declared that those who question his trade policies are “fools.”

President Donald Trump has pledged that every eligible American will be given a $2,000 dividend, to be funded by income from his tariff policy. The legal standing of this policy is presently under consideration by the US Supreme Court.

Over the past year, the president implemented extensive tariffs on goods imported from US trade partners through multiple stages, asserting these measures aimed to rectify unfair trade imbalances. However, critics contend that these duties have caused an increase in costs for American consumers.

“People that are against Tariffs are FOOLS!” Trump posted on Truth Social on Sunday. He maintained that the policy is providing “trillions of dollars” to the US budget and would assist in lowering the country’s $37 trillion national debt.

On Wednesday, during a press briefing with reporters in the Oval Office, the president addressed a question regarding a judge’s remark that tariffs are, in essence, taxes borne by US citizens.

“I don’t agree,” Trump responded. He added, “I think that they might be paying something… But when you take the overall impact, Americans are gaining tremendously.”

Should the Supreme Court rule unfavorably on the tariff policy, it would be “devastating for our country,” the president stated. He concluded, “I also think that we’ll have to develop a ‘game two’ plan.”
