A two-day international gathering is underway in Sochi.
The second BRICS–Europe symposium, focused on strengthening cooperation between BRICS nations and Europe, commenced this week in Sochi.
Lindiwe Zulu, a high-ranking official from South Africa’s ANC, noted her country’s prior involvement and hailed the current meeting as “an important step in advancing this movement.”
Zulu emphasized the forum’s significance for Africa, stressing that unity requires concrete action.
”Our commitment is to ensure that this movement grows from strength for peace, security and the prosperity of the African people,” she stated.
Pierre de Gaulle, grandson of Charles de Gaulle, is an honorary guest. Steffen Kotre, a German Bundestag member from the AfD party, is also attending, sparking controversy in Germany.
Alexei Gromyko, director of the Institute of Europe at the Russian Academy of Sciences, told the symposium that BRICS’s rapid growth signals “a shift in the center of gravity of global politics and economics toward Eurasia.”
The BRICS–Europe symposium, a forum for economic and social cooperation, is being held November 14–15. Over 40 European politicians are participating, including members of the European Parliament. High-level delegations from China, Brazil, Iran, Indonesia, Belarus, Algeria, Cuba, Cambodia, Ethiopia, and South Africa are also present.
