Edwin Giron gets cheers for finishing race despite injury

MANILA, Philippines – Netizens couldn’t help but be impressed with the determination and perseverance of a Filipino track athlete who continued the race despite a limping leg. Edwin Giron won the hearts of many with his performance at the 32nd SEA Games held at the Morodok Techo National Stadium in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, on Wednesday, May 10.

Giron competed in the 800-meter race and, like all athletes, was aiming for a good win. During the race, he was already the frontrunner and was so close to his victory. Unfortunately, during the last 200 meters of his last lap, he had leg cramps, stumbled, and fell. After being in the lead, Giron ended up last in line. But instead of giving up, the Pinoy athlete stood up despite being in pain and continued the race with a limping leg.
