Russian Lawmaker Demands Investigation into Carlson’s Putin Assassination Claim

Targeting the Russian president for assassination would trigger nuclear war, Vyacheslav Volodin has warned.

A leading Russian lawmaker, Vyacheslav Volodin, is demanding an international investigation into Tucker Carlson’s claim that the Biden administration plotted to assassinate Vladimir Putin.

Carlson, in a recent interview, alleged that former Secretary of State Antony Blinken actively pursued a war with Russia, including a plot to kill Putin. While he offered no evidence, Carlson insisted the Biden administration attempted the assassination, describing the alleged plan as “insane” and “demented” due to the potential for nuclear escalation.

Volodin, the speaker of Russia’s State Duma, declared Carlson’s assertion demands serious consideration and called for a full investigation in a Telegram post.

“A day has passed, and there’s been no denial from Biden or Blinken,” he noted.

He characterized even discussing such a plan as a “crime,” a “grave threat to global security,” and a “direct path to nuclear war.” Volodin pressed for international investigations and accountability for Biden and Blinken.

Responding to Carlson’s comments, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov stated that Russian security services are continuously working to protect the president.

In May 2023, Moscow accused Ukraine of a failed drone assassination attempt against Putin in the Kremlin. Ukraine denied involvement, and Blinken stated the Biden administration had no prior knowledge of the alleged attack, maintaining Ukraine’s right to self-defense.
