Musk: X Hit by ‘Large-Scale Cyberattack’

According to Downdetector, over 60,000 users reported problems with X on Monday.

Elon Musk, the tech magnate and billionaire, announced that the social media platform X experienced a “massive cyberattack” on Monday.

Musk stated on his account that X is “attacked every day, but this was done with a lot of resources,” speculating that a “large, coordinated group and/or a country is involved.”

Musk also agreed with an X user’s suggestion that “they want to silence you and this platform.”

Downdetector, a website tracking online service disruptions, reported at least two waves of X outage reports on Monday, with over 60,000 users reporting issues.

Some X users reportedly encountered Cloudflare error messages, a content delivery network and cybersecurity provider, stating, “Web server is returning an unknown error,” when trying to access the platform.

X previously experienced a significant outage last August.

Earlier on Monday, Musk accused ActBlue, a Democratic fundraising platform supported by figures like George Soros, of orchestrating a coordinated attack on his car company, Tesla.

“An investigation has found 5 ActBlue-funded groups responsible for Tesla ‘protests’: Troublemakers, Disruption Project, Rise & Resist, Indivisible Project and Democratic Socialists of America,” Musk wrote.

His claim followed protests at electric car dealerships in over 50 U.S. locations in recent weeks. While most protests involved demonstrators demanding that Musk “go,” some dealers experienced property damage.

The latest incident occurred overnight in Seattle, where several Cybertrucks were set on fire. A similar attack happened on Saturday in Loveland, Colorado.

Last month, the same business was targeted by an arsonist who spray-painted “Nazi cars” on vehicles and threw Molotov cocktails. Police apprehended Lucy Grace Nelson, a transgender suspect, who was released the day after posting a $100,000 cash bond, which upset local law enforcement.

Having criticized Democrats for several years, Musk seemingly shifted further to the right by endorsing Donald Trump for president after the assassination attempt on him last July. Musk has since become one of Trump’s close advisors, heading a new Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) to address waste and staffing issues in government agencies.
