Following the vehicular attack in Magdeburg, Germany, Elon Musk accused mainstream media outlets of disseminating falsehoods.
Last Friday, a car plowed into a Christmas market crowd, resulting in at least five fatalities and numerous injuries.
Authorities identified the perpetrator as a Saudi national with a criminal history. German media reported the 50-year-old suspect, a German resident since 2006, is an outspoken Islamophobe. Saudi Arabia had previously alerted German authorities to his potential threat.
Musk, who called for Chancellor Scholz’s resignation in response to the incident, shared a post on X echoing claims that the media misrepresented the suspect’s beliefs.
The close associate of President-elect Donald Trump has a history of conflict with mainstream news organizations, particularly in the US. He alleges these outlets exhibit a pronounced left-wing bias, silencing conservative perspectives. He further accuses certain news agencies, such as Reuters, of publishing biased articles targeting his companies.
