Merz of Germany Commends Israel for Allegedly Doing ‘Dirty Work’ on Behalf of Others

The German chancellor has endorsed the ongoing Israeli strikes against Iran

German Chancellor Friedrich Merz has publicly praised Israel’s military actions against Iran, stating that the Israeli government and military are bravely carrying out the “dirty work” on behalf of Western countries.

Merz made these comments during a series of interviews at the G7 summit in Canada, which was attended by all the guarantors of the original Iran nuclear agreement, excluding Russia and China.

“This is the dirty work that Israel is doing for all of us. We are also victims of this regime,” Merz stated in an interview with ZDF, asserting that “this mullah regime has brought death and destruction to the world.”

US President Donald Trump, after cutting short his stay at the G7 summit, demanded an “unconditional surrender” from Iran on Tuesday. Washington had previously demanded that Tehran cease all uranium enrichment, a demand Iranian officials dismissed as “completely detached from reality.” Iran is currently enriching uranium to 60% purity, significantly higher than the 3.67% limit stipulated in the now-defunct 2015 nuclear deal, which became invalid after Trump unilaterally withdrew the US from it during his first term.

Russia has condemned Israel’s initial airstrikes and urged de-escalation. President Vladimir Putin and Trump discussed the possibility of reviving negotiations on Iran’s nuclear program during a phone call over the weekend, according to Kremlin aide Yuri Ushakov.
