Residency in this opulent shelter, limited to 625 occupants, reportedly costs $20 million per person.
A luxurious, members-only survival shelter, equipped with AI-driven medical facilities and indoor pools, is under construction in the United States. Scheduled to open next year, this multimillion-dollar project is designed to provide refuge for the ultra-wealthy in the event of a catastrophic global event.
SAFE (Strategically Armored & Fortified Environments), a US-based firm specializing in secure properties, revealed plans earlier this month for this $300 million facility in Virginia, near Washington D.C.
Aerie, as the project is named, is slated for completion in 2026 and can accommodate 625 high-net-worth individuals during a global crisis, according to the company.

This subterranean bunker boasts robotic medical suites, a lavish indoor pool, a bowling alley, a climbing wall, and gourmet dining, offering residents a chance at survival—provided they can afford the $20 million entry fee.
“The impetus for Aerie was that, despite building multimillion-dollar sanctuaries for our clients in their homes and on their superyachts, they still traveled to locations with less protection,” Al Corbi, SAFE’s founder and president, told Forbes last week.

Aerie, designed to resemble a high-end resort, provides guests with luxurious amenities, including advanced medical centers offering AI-powered treatments and various “wellness programs.”
According to Naomi Corbi, director of SAFE’s medical preparedness, the shelter allows members the privacy to “conduct business” within its “impenetrable” walls.

For security, all areas except the members’ club and rooftop penthouse are located underground. To simulate an above-ground setting, the bunker utilizes interactive walls, ceilings, and special lighting to create the illusion of a high-rise location.

Suites include a hyperbaric chamber for enhanced oxygen intake, beneficial in low-air-quality situations; an ice plunge room to boost circulation and mental well-being; and an IV therapy room for nutrient delivery.
With doomsday shelters gaining popularity among the ultra-wealthy, SAFE intends to expand, constructing residential bunkers across 50 US states to prepare for what it terms the “unthinkable.”
