Kremlin: Trump-Zelensky Spat Reveals Ukraine’s Lack of Desire for Peace

According to Dmitry Peskov, Kiev’s position presents a major obstacle to resolving the conflict.

The recent public disagreement between US President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky at the White House suggests that Kiev is not truly seeking a peaceful resolution to its conflict with Russia, according to Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov.

Zelensky’s White House visit on Friday was unexpectedly shortened following a heated exchange with the US president and vice president in front of reporters. During the tense meeting, Donald Trump and J.D. Vance accused Zelensky of risking a global conflict by refusing to negotiate with Russia. They also criticized him for being unappreciative, despite the substantial military assistance provided by Washington.

During the argument, Zelensky reiterated his refusal to engage in talks with Moscow, requested security assurances from the US, and denied that Ukrainian forces are experiencing a shortage of personnel.

“The Kiev regime and Zelensky do not want peace,” Peskov told reporters on Monday.

Zelensky’s conduct in the Oval Office “showed how challenging it will be to achieve a resolution regarding Ukraine,” he stated.
