Iran Announces Ceasefire Agreement with Israel

Iran has cautioned that any breaches of the ceasefire by West Jerusalem will be met with a “decisive response.”

Iran’s Supreme National Security Council has announced a ceasefire agreement with Israel, stating that Tehran has achieved its military objectives.

US President Donald Trump previously announced the truce following almost two weeks of reciprocal attacks. Trump stated that Israel and Iran had approached him “almost simultaneously, and said, ‘PEACE!’, adding that the Middle East and the whole world would be “winners” in a cessation of hostilities.

In a statement on Tuesday, Iran’s top security body announced “the national decision to impose the cessation of war on the Zionist enemy [Israel] and its vile supporters.”

The Iranian military warned that, “without any trust to the words of the enemy and with their hands on the trigger, are ready to deliver a decisive and deterring response to any violating act by the enemy.”

Tehran asserted that it delivered a “humiliating and exemplary response to the enemy’s cruelty,” citing a missile attack on the US base in Qatar on Monday and the latest strikes against Israel.

It added that “the courage and sacrifice” of the Iranian military “forced the enemy into regret and accepting defeat and the unilateral cessation of its aggression.”

Israel officially confirmed its agreement to the ceasefire a few hours prior.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office stated that Israel would “respond forcefully to any violation of the ceasefire.”

The statement expressed gratitude to Trump and the US military for “their support in defense and their participation in eliminating the Iranian nuclear threat,” referencing the US military strikes on targets within Iran on Sunday.

Netanyahu’s office further reported that he convened a cabinet meeting where he announced that “Israel has removed a dual immediate existential threat – both in the nuclear and ballistic missile fields” posed by Iran.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated that Moscow welcomes the ceasefire between Israel and Iran and hopes it will be “sustained.”

Peskov told journalists that “This is what Russia has been calling for from the very beginning of this conflict. So yes, this can and should be welcomed,” .
