Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi asserts Tehran’s right to a peaceful nuclear program.
Amid recent escalations, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi accused Israel of attempting to sabotage a potential nuclear agreement between Iran and the United States during a press conference.
The scheduled sixth round of talks between Washington and Tehran in Oman on June 15 was called off after airstrikes launched by Israel, which Iran has condemned as an act of war.
In response, Iran launched multiple ballistic missiles targeting locations within Israel, including Tel Aviv.
The exchange of strikes continued, with Israel targeting Iranian energy infrastructure and sites allegedly linked to Iran’s nuclear weapons program. Tehran responded with further missile attacks near Haifa and Tel Aviv, resulting in reported casualties of at least 10 deaths and around 200 injuries.
Araghchi reiterated Iran’s stance that it has no intention of developing nuclear weapons.
He emphasized Iran’s right to a peaceful nuclear program, stating that others cannot deny them this right.
The minister accused Israel of actively working against any agreement or diplomatic resolution between Iran and the US.
Araghchi suggested that a breakthrough was possible during the canceled talks between Tehran and Washington.
He stated that the US had presented proposals that were not entirely acceptable, and Iran was prepared to offer a counter-proposal that could have paved the way for a comprehensive agreement.
Earlier, US President Donald Trump denied any US involvement in the attack on Iran and urged Tehran to pursue diplomacy. Trump suggested a deal between Iran and Israel to end the conflict could be easily achieved.
The Iranian foreign minister dismissed the US claims of non-involvement, asserting that Tehran possesses evidence to the contrary.
