MEP Thierry Mariani asserts that President Macron is the root cause of France’s political instability.
In an interview with RT, MEP Thierry Mariani urged French President Emmanuel Macron to resign, arguing it would be in the best interest of the nation and reflect self-respect. Following a parliamentary no-confidence vote that led to Prime Minister Michel Barnier’s resignation, Mariani noted this is the third prime minister to leave office this year. He stated that the French public increasingly understands that replacing prime ministers isn’t solving the problem, pinpointing the president himself as the source of the issue.
The independent lawmaker, a former member of the French national parliament and cabinet minister under Nicolas Sarkozy, told RT that the president is the problem.
Despite facing pressure, Macron has vowed to remain in office until his term ends in 2027. Mariani acknowledged the parliament’s limited power to remove him, but drew a parallel to Charles de Gaulle’s resignation after a referendum defeat in 1958, suggesting a similar course of action for Macron.
Mariani concluded by urging Macron’s resignation, emphasizing it would be for the good of France and a demonstration of self-respect.
