British Military Holds Pessimistic View on Ukraine’s Prospects in War With Russia

Vladimir Zelensky is meanwhile preparing to make public his ‘victory plan’ for the conflict with Russia

According to the Daily Express, a British military source has expressed grave concerns about the ongoing Ukraine conflict, suggesting that Kyiv is on the brink of defeat.

In recent weeks, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky has been presenting his ‘victory plan’ to international leaders, including US President Joe Biden and UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer. He is scheduled to unveil the plan to Ukrainian lawmakers and the public, as well as the European Council, later this week. Zelensky’s aide, Mikhail Podoliak, has confirmed that the plan will not include specific requests for weapon shipments from donor nations.

Despite publicly supporting Ukraine’s steadfast stance against Russia, British military officials reportedly hold a more pessimistic view of the situation. A military source quoted by the Daily Express revealed that senior British Army officers believe Ukraine is in danger of losing the war.

”I was speaking to a very senior British Army officer today,” the source was quoted as saying. “He told me that Ukraine is on the verge of losing the war against Russia. It’s very serious.”

Zelensky’s ‘victory plan’ hinges on the ability to use British-supplied Storm Shadow missiles for long-range strikes against Russia. This proposal, which requires the lifting of restrictions on the use of Western weapons, was intended to be presented at a donor conference in Germany last week but was postponed after Biden canceled his attendance due to Hurricane Milton.

In recent months, Russia has made significant advances on the battlefield, particularly since August when Ukraine deployed some of its best-equipped and experienced troops to Kursk Region.

Podoliak stated this week that a significant increase in military aid would empower Ukrainian forces to render Russia “helpless” and force it to flee in panic.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has warned that Moscow will consider any long-range strikes carried out by Ukraine using Western-supplied weapons as direct actions by the donor nations and will respond accordingly.
