HANGZHOU, China, Feb. 25, 2026 — Official names for five stations on Metro Line 10 and the Hangzhou-Deqing Intercity Railway (Yuhang Section) have recently been approved by the Hangzhou Municipal Government. In the core area of Yuhang Economic Development Zone, two stations have received new names: Renhe South Station is now “Dongshanyang Station,” and Renhe North Station has been officially named “Qihang Road Station” (meaning “Setting Sail Road”). As the northern terminal of the Metro Line 10 extension and a key interchange for the Hangzhou-Deqing Intercity Railway, Qihang Road Station is situated near major industrial facilities such as BYD Hangzhou and Huaguang Advanced Materials. This name accurately identifies the location and represents the zone’s new beginning in integrated industrial and urban development. With rapid progress on the rail lines, the upcoming network will efficiently link Hangzhou’s city center, Yuhang Economic Development Zone, and Deqing County, boosting regional transport benefits and energizing the flow of industry and talent.
Yuhang District in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, is centrally located in the Yangtze River Delta, acting as Hangzhou’s access point to Shanghai, Jiangsu, and Anhui. Approved as a provincial-level economic development zone by the Zhejiang Provincial Government, Yuhang Economic Development Zone is the district’s main industrial base and the smart manufacturing hub closest to Hangzhou’s administrative center. Positioned at the southern edge of the Hangjiahu Plain and adjacent to the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal to the east, the zone benefits from outstanding geographic and transport conditions: it is roughly 50 km from Hangzhou Xiaoshan International Airport, about 20 km from both Hangzhou East and Hangzhou West railway stations, and is served by seven expressways and Metro Line 10.
The zone prioritizes smart manufacturing, with a focus on three pillar industries: new equipment, new materials, and new energy, together forming a “One Smart, Three New” industrial framework. It also targets specialized fields like integrated circuits, robotics, and digital energy, consistently fostering new quality productive forces. Presently, the zone has built industrial clusters featuring companies such as Nanfang Pump, Huaguang Advanced Materials, and BYD Hangzhou, drawing in many related businesses from across the supply chain.
Regarding its innovation ecosystem, Yuhang Economic Development Zone has collaborated with Zhejiang University to found the Advanced Electrical Equipment Innovation Center, headed by a full-time chief scientist who is a Chinese Academy of Engineering academician. The center has secured several national and provincial research initiatives in areas like new energy vehicle electric drive systems and intelligent robotic servo systems. The zone also provides more than 570,000 square meters of incubation space, which includes the state-level Smart Manufacturing Innovation and Entrepreneurship Industrial Park, forming a complete support system for businesses at every development phase.
To draw in premium global resources, the zone has implemented a set of significant and focused support policies. For project assistance, qualifying initiatives can obtain equipment subsidies and independent R&D funding; manufacturing firms that reach certain thresholds for actual utilized foreign investment receive incentives. Sector-specific policies are also detailed and strong: integrated circuit companies get subsidies for initial tape-out expenses; eligible “low-altitude economy” enterprises qualify for workspace rental subsidies for set durations; and robotics manufacturers and R&D firms that meet specific annual revenue benchmarks are granted one-time rewards.
Guided by the principle of “Establishing the Zone through Environment, Revitalizing the Zone through Technology, and Strengthening the Zone through Smart Manufacturing,” Yuhang Economic Development Zone is progressively driving regional industrial advancement and holistic growth. Currently, amenities for education, healthcare, commerce, and living within the zone are becoming more complete, encompassing several primary and secondary schools, the Yuhang District Hospital of Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine (under construction), the Fangzheng Plaza commercial center, and move-in-ready rental housing for talent, offering comprehensive support for companies and individuals.
Currently, by capitalizing on ongoing enhancements to its transport infrastructure and industrial ecosystem, Yuhang Economic Development Zone is progressively releasing the dynamism of its smart manufacturing sector, with the effects of industrial agglomeration and innovation capacity growing stronger. Looking ahead, the zone will persist in fostering the agglomeration and high-quality growth of smart manufacturing industries by optimizing the business climate, enhancing policy direction, and establishing cooperation platforms, steadily progressing toward its objective of becoming a national-level economic and technological development zone.
