Sunrise New Energy Announces Patent for Hard Carbon Composite Material for Use in Solid-State and Low-Temperature Batteries

DOVER, USA, Dec. 10, 2025 — Sunrise New Energy Co., Ltd. (“Sunrise”, the “Company”, “we” or “our”) (NASDAQ: EPOW) announced today that its subsidiary, Sunrise (Guizhou) New Energy Materials Co., Ltd., has been granted a patent for an invention titled “Spherical Hard Carbon Composite Material and Its Preparation Method”, under the patent number CN2025106204848. This patent covers hard carbon composite anode materials for low-temperature energy storage batteries, with a specific focus on sodium-ion batteries. The technology is anticipated to deliver more efficient and dependable material solutions for large-scale energy storage systems, as well as for power infrastructure in commuter and remote areas.

This innovation tackles the typical limitations of conventional hard carbon anode materials—including lower efficiency, restricted cycle life, and capacity loss during low-temperature and high-rate charging and discharging—through the development of a spherical hard carbon composite structure. This involves refining the carbon framework and conductive/ionic channels, alongside enhancements to surface and interface treatments. These improvements are designed to boost conductivity at low temperatures, increase ion diffusion efficiency, and ensure structural integrity, resulting in better capacity retention, high-rate capability, and extended cycle life for sodium-ion and other energy storage battery uses.

“This patented technology will add to our range of advanced energy storage materials and bolster the Company’s competitive position in the worldwide energy storage market, while also opening up opportunities in low-temperature sodium-ion storage,” stated Haiping Hu, Founder and CEO of Sunrise. “We are committed to progressing with engineering validation, performance testing, and industrialization for this technology, aiming to speed up the market introduction of high-performance battery materials.”
