“Smart” Guanshanhu and “Green” Qingzhen Power Guiyang’s Intelligent Manufacturing.

GUIYANG, China, Oct. 31, 2025 — Guided by the “Upgrading Industry for City Booming” strategy since the 14th Five-Year Plan, Guiyang has positioned intelligent manufacturing as the central driver for high-quality economic growth. Data from the Guiyang Municipal Bureau of Industry and Information Technology indicates that in 2024, the industrial sector accounted for 31.1% of economic growth, with the value-added output of above-scale industries increasing by an average of 7.5% annually. Guanshanhu District and Qingzhen City exemplify this through a “Dual-Wheel Drive” approach: Guanshanhu has cultivated an industrial hub for new energy vehicles and digital factories, while Qingzhen has modernized traditional industries with aluminum-based new materials and green manufacturing. Together, they propel Guiyang’s progress in intelligent manufacturing.

Guanshanhu District: New Energy and Digital Economy Drive Dual-Core Development, Forging a Multi-Billion Yuan Industrial Cluster

The new energy vehicle industrial cluster serves as a benchmark for intelligent manufacturing in Guanshanhu, as noted by the Guiyang Municipal Bureau of Industry and Information Technology. Since Geely Auto’s establishment here in 2018, it has rapidly attracted over 20 supporting upstream and downstream enterprises through an innovative model of “chain head leading, supporters following and cluster progressing.” This has resulted in a comprehensive industrial chain encompassing batteries, motors, and intelligent networking systems, with an anticipated annual output value of 20 billion yuan by 2025.

Digital empowerment has invigorated traditional manufacturing sectors. Zhong An Technology Group, distinguished as Guizhou’s inaugural national “Green Factory” and “Green Supply Chain Management Enterprise,” showcases this transformation. Within its “5G+AI Digital Twin” factory, AGV robots navigate intelligent warehouses, continuously uploading real-time production data to a cloud optimization system. The company aims for a revenue of 5.5 billion yuan in 2025.

In Guanshanhu District’s Modern Manufacturing Industrial Park, Guiyang Shanju Battery Co., Ltd.’s automated production line operates with high efficiency, producing one battery pack every 2 minutes. This line incorporates the world’s first 5.8mm live ammunition penetration test for battery cells, ensuring complete digital control from raw materials to finished products. The entire process from battery production to vehicle assembly takes just 4.5 hours. Zhang Jiaxin, head of Quality Module, explained, “Our battery manufacturing process is highly automated and flexible, overcoming the time constraints of industry changeovers for battery PACK lines. We can co-produce multiple products, supporting agile and diverse production modes.” Leveraging the Geely Guiyang manufacturing base, its output value reached 800 million yuan in the first half of 2025.

The development of industrial park infrastructure provides robust backing for industrial growth. The first phase of the Intelligent Manufacturing Industrial Park, representing a total investment of 1.35 billion yuan, has attracted 21 enterprises specializing in high-end equipment like robots and semiconductors. The Xiaolanshan Digital Culture Ecological Village hosts 45 digital enterprises and has been designated a Provincial Digital Intelligence Industry Cultivation Park.

Qingzhen City: Overcoming Obstacles in Aluminum-Based New Materials and Green Manufacturing to Revitalize Traditional Industries

At the Wangzhuang Aluminum Deep Processing Industrial Park within the Qingzhen Economic Development Zone, three large aluminum extruders operated by Guiyang Longshu Light Alloy Technology Co., Ltd. are efficiently extruding aluminum-based new materials at a rate of 9 tons per hour. This advanced facility integrates mold design and oxidation electrophoresis, employing solar photovoltaic thin film power generation and energy storage technology to achieve low-carbon operations throughout its processes. General Manager Geng Guoqing, pointing to the Digital Kanban alongside the production line, noted, “Our monthly orders for aerospace-grade aluminum alloy total 3,000 tons, with some being exported to countries such as South Korea and Indonesia.”

The “intensive exploitation of rich ores” strategy for the aluminum industry has yielded significant results. Qingzhen City, building on leading enterprises like Aluminum Corp of China (CHALCO) Guizhou branch, is promoting the upgrade of aluminum processing from primary products to advanced automotive lightweight and aerospace materials. In 2024, the output value of Qingzhen’s above-scale aluminum and aluminum processing industry exceeded 26.5 billion yuan, marking a 38.29% year-on-year increase and representing 75.08% of Guiyang City’s total. Projects such as the ore blending center and desulfurization and desilication production line are progressing rapidly, and all 14 operational mines have been integrated into digital systems.

Green manufacturing has become a defining characteristic of traditional industrial transformation. Guizhou Zhenghe Tianzhu Technology Co., Ltd. is the first private enterprise in Guizhou Province to utilize solid industrial waste for producing pre-mixed powder materials like phosphogypsum and cement-based materials, boasting an annual capacity of 1.2 million tons. It was recognized as a national “Green Factory” and “Green Supply Chain Management Enterprise” in 2023. Vice General Manager Chen Ying affirmed, “The company will increase investment and R&D efforts, continuously promote energy conservation and consumption reduction to achieve solid waste recycling and transform waste into valuable resources.”

Collaborative Development Fosters a New Momentum, Driving Guiyang’s Prosperity through Intelligent Manufacturing

The achievements of Guanshanhu and Qingzhen are representative of Guiyang’s broader intelligent manufacturing landscape. Throughout the 14th Five-Year Plan, Guiyang has steadfastly prioritized new industrialization as the core mission for high-quality development, vigorously implementing the “Upgrading Industry for City Booming” strategy and adhering to “high-end, intelligent, and green” principles. In 2023, Guiyang’s industrial added value surpassed 100 billion yuan, and its total output value exceeded 400 billion yuan. By 2024, Guiyang was recognized as a leading innovator in the western region, ranking 27th among 101 innovative cities in China and 4th among 20 innovative cities in western China. Currently, the city boasts 8 national science and technology innovation platforms and 36 national specialized and innovative “little giant” enterprises, continuously strengthening its foundation for innovation-driven development.
