SEOUL, South Korea, Jan. 06, 2026 — Novachips Co., Ltd., a company known for its innovative flash storage solutions, has today unveiled its new P2-series SSDs. These new drives are designed to assist embedded system developers and system integrators in meeting the security demands of PQ (Post-quantum) cryptography by incorporating general-purpose QR (Quantum-resistant) algorithms as recommended by CNSA 2.0.
The P2-series represents a new line of self-encrypting SSDs, built around Novachips’ proprietary NV7X processor. When compared to its predecessor, the P-series, the P2-series offers enhanced read/write bandwidth, new QR algorithms, and improved power efficiency. The P2-series supports key post-quantum algorithms such as ML-KEM-1024 (FIPS 203) and ML-DSA-87 (FIPS 204), along with other general-purpose quantum-resistant algorithms (NIST Cert #A7341). It also features a physical entropy source that can be accessed through its Crypto API, allowing host systems to transition to post-quantum cryptographic standards without the need for additional hardware or software components.
“Compared to traditional asymmetric algorithms, PQ algorithms like ML-KEM and ML-DSA require significantly more processing time, approximately 5 to 20 times longer, to complete key establishment or to generate and verify signatures,” stated Sejong Yoo, Novachips General Manager. “By utilizing the P2-series SSDs, customers can not only benefit from encrypted storage but also execute general-purpose QR algorithms without burdening the host CPU. This offers an efficient solution for edge computing devices aiming to adopt PQ cryptographic standards while maintaining service quality.”
The P2-series SSDs are available in a variety of form factors, including 2.5-inch SATA, U.2 / M.2 for PCIe, and USB flash drives, with user capacities ranging from 500GB to 16TB. These products are engineered to withstand extreme conditions such as shock, vibration, humidity, temperature, and high altitudes, adhering to the MIL-STD-810G standard. Security validations for FIPS-140-3 and Common Criteria are planned, following the successful completion of these validations for its predecessor, the P-series.
