- Geely Auto Group’s advanced driver assistance system, the Qianli Haohan G-ASD, has become the first Chinese-developed ADAS to obtain European regulatory approval by achieving UN R171 certification.
- This certification functions as a regulatory “passport,” enabling vehicles with G-ASD to be sold directly in all UNECE member countries, eliminating the requirement for separate national certifications.
- In a joint effort, Geely and CATARC developed a rigorous testing framework for the UN R171 standard, addressing a regulatory void and guaranteeing top safety via a “human-machine co-driving” model.
- The inaugural vehicle equipped with G-ASD, which runs on dual NVIDIA Orin-X chips, is scheduled to launch on European roads in June 2026, speeding up the worldwide growth of brands such as Geely, ZEEKR, Lynk & Co, and Lotus.
(SeaPRwire) – HANGZHOU, China, March 18, 2026 — Geely Auto Group has formally declared that its Geely G-ASD has obtained the UN R171 certification. Awarded by the China Automotive Technology & Research Center (CATARC) and IDIADA, this achievement represents the inaugural instance of a Chinese ADAS gaining European regulatory endorsement. The UN R171 regulation is the European Union’s consolidated standard for Driver Control Assistance Systems (DCAS), creating a unified structure for intelligent mobility throughout Europe.

UN R171 ranks among the most stringent ADAS certifications globally. Its rigorous safety criteria, which demand perfect hazard detection, system backup, and constant driver oversight, have been met by very few automakers. To successfully comply with these new rules, Geely collaborated with CATARC to create an innovative testing methodology. This strategy closes the divide between conventional driver assistance and conditional autonomous driving, highlighting China’s leading role in intelligent automotive technology.

The initial vehicle featuring the certified G-ASD system is set to debut on European roads in June 2026, placing Geely to introduce the planet’s first mass-produced ADAS under this new regulation. Driven by dual NVIDIA Orin-X chips, the system enables assisted driving at velocities of up to 150 km/h on European motorways. Principal functionalities comprise automated highway interchange navigation, intelligent on/off-ramp handling, independent overtaking, and adaptive speed control. Geely intends to utilize this pioneering edge to deploy the technology throughout its wider international brand lineup, including ZEEKR, Lynk & Co, and Lotus.
