CHENGDU, China, Sept. 28, 2025 — Chengdu is set to officially launch the 2025 Chengdu International Digital Culture & Creativity Season and the Honor of Kings 10th Anniversary City Carnival on the evening of September 28. This event will inaugurate the Chinese National Day and Mid-Autumn Festival holiday period with an immersive and widely accessible celebration of digital culture and creativity across the city.
Guided by the International Olympic Arts Committee, the China Netcasting Services Association, the China Cultural Industry Association, and the China Audio-Video and Digital Publishing Association, the Chengdu Digital Culture & Creativity Industry Association is hosting this season. For the next month, Chengdu will partner with the popular IP Honor of Kings and 28 other prominent local digital IPs, such as NE ZHA, to present a variety of engaging activities ranging from consumer experiences to industrial collaborations.
A central feature of the season is the “Honor of Kings 10th Anniversary Celebration,” showcasing Chengdu’s innovative strategy for enhancing cultural tourism through IP integration. Honor of Kings, a global sensation with hundreds of millions of players, selected Chengdu for this significant anniversary due to the city’s role as a vital R&D center for the game and its ability to effectively engage with younger demographics, ensuring digital culture resonates deeply with them.
Throughout the month, Chengdu will be reimagined as an “Honor of Kings Gathering.” This includes five “Explore Chengdu with Honor of Kings” city walk routes, transforming conventional tourism into an interactive urban quest; the inaugural full-hero parade; and the unveiling of the world’s first 10-meter-tall birthday cake sculpture depicting all heroes and skins, thereby converting the city into a global showcase for players.
Beyond entertainment, the 2025 Chengdu International Digital Culture & Creativity Season also functions as an inventive platform for consolidating industry resources, advancing project development, and fostering industrial enhancement.
Scheduled for October 23, the 2025 Chengdu Digital Culture & Creativity Ecosystem Partners Conference will unveil the “2025 China Digital Culture & Creativity City Index” and a Global Cooperation Opportunities List, alongside announcing the formation of an International Digital Culture & Creativity Industry Alliance. This signifies Chengdu’s strategic evolution from merely focusing on consumer experiences to developing a holistic industrial ecosystem. Coinciding with this, the Chengdu International Digital Culture & Creativity Innovation Application Competition will launch, aiming to cultivate 1,000 AIGC creators and teams.
Chengdu’s capacity to host such an extensive Digital Culture & Creativity Season, profoundly integrated with the city’s essence, stems from several factors: its rich cultural heritage, robust industrial base, strong governmental backing, and ample higher education resources. These elements collectively create an ideal environment for the digital culture and creativity industry to flourish.
Through IP collaborations, industry partnerships, and consumption-driven innovation in recent years, digital culture and creativity have emerged not just as significant drivers for urban consumption but have also transformed Chengdu’s reputation into that of a more youthful and vibrant metropolis.
Earlier this year, Ctrip recognized Chengdu as the “City with the Highest Search Popularity among Foreign Tourists,” and it also featured among the “Top Destinations for Post-00s Travelers.” The profound fusion of burgeoning sectors such as anime, esports, and music festivals with cultural tourism has given rise to numerous new products and experiences highly sought after by young people. Chengdu is proactively redefining its cultural tourism scene by adopting approaches popular with youth, thereby steering the industry toward digitalization, experiential engagement, and interactivity.
Simultaneously, by establishing platforms for industrial collaboration, supporting the localization of internationally acclaimed IPs, and drawing in global companies and top-tier talent, Chengdu is expediting its growth into a premier domestic and globally leading hub for the digital culture and creativity industry.
Presently, Chengdu’s core digital culture and creativity industry boasts a cumulative value of 381.9 billion yuan. Illustratively, the Chengdu High-tech Zone, instrumental in nurturing IPs like Honor of Kings and NE ZHA, now hosts more than 6,000 digital culture and creativity businesses, employs 120,000 creative professionals, and has an industrial scale surpassing 110 billion yuan.
Looking ahead, Chengdu is poised to harness the momentum of digital culture and creativity, showcasing its distinctive cultural allure and innovative dynamism to a global audience.
