CHENGDU, China, Dec. 31, 2025 — The “Chengdu Lights Up for You” New Year’s Eve celebration, organized by the Chengdu Hi-Tech Zone, took place in spectacular fashion on Jiaozi Avenue during the evening of December 31.
As darkness descended, Jiaozi Avenue bustled with throngs of people, as thousands of locals and visitors assembled to greet the coming New Year. The venue’s “1+6+N” super urban scene combination emphasized aspects like tech-culture integration and the blending of cultural, commercial, and tourism components. It presented an array of captivating activities, featuring the Twin Towers illumination display, citizen wishes projected on the towers, hands-on tech encounters, a garden bazaar, a commercial market, and voucher giveaways, providing attendees with an immersive cultural-tourism journey.
Standing as an urban landmark, the 218-meter-tall Tianfu Twin Towers showcased several rounds of illuminations on their enormous 52,000 m 2 display surface. Coordinated with the Jiaozi Ring’s lighting and the illuminations from structures lining both sides of Jiaozi Avenue, they created a 360-degree immersive thematic spectacle merging audio, lighting, and visuals, embodying the city’s shared aspirations for leaving the old year behind and embracing the new.
Against a backdrop of shifting melodies, lights, and beats, more than 600 wishes from residents—gathered beforehand—appeared across the Tianfu Twin Towers’ giant screens. “Wish Ambassadors” such as “Nezha” and “Taiyi Zhenren,” together with corporate representatives, community leaders, and cultural practitioners, amplified these aspirations. This demonstrated the ambitious drive of the city’s workforce and the limitless future hopes cherished by each Chengdu resident.
“5, 4, 3, 2, 1!” During the eagerly awaited New Year countdown, stunning digital fireworks exploded across the Tianfu Twin Towers’ facades. A “Red Envelope Rain” animation promptly cascaded blessings throughout the city. Simultaneously, tens of thousands of attendees joined voices to sing “Chengdu.” The well-known tune merged with the radiant lights, heralding the first instant of 2026 with heartfelt warmth.
That night, within the joyous New Year ambiance, the “Chengdu Love” art piece on the Jiaozi Ring enhanced the city’s nocturnal panorama. With violin accompaniment, couples participated in modest yet touching marriage certification rites there, moving forward together into a new phase of life.
At the “Chengdu Premium Products” debut showcase, items like China’s pioneering emotional companion humanoid robot, innovative personal intelligent fitness zones, and a professional drone soccer exhibition match exuded technological allure, drawing numerous locals and tourists to try them directly. Within the New Year garden fair zone, premier Chengdu scenic IPs such as the Jinjiang River night cruise featuring traditional black-awning vessels delivered compelling performances and interactive engagements. The Jiaozi Market presented diverse regional specialties, enabling visitors to embark on a comprehensive culinary tour. On New Year’s Eve, upwards of 1,000 brand retailers, operating both digitally and physically, distributed three waves of consumption vouchers worth 1 million yuan total. Thus, a splendid and joyful new year commenced amid brilliant and vibrant festivities.
