LAS VEGAS, Jan. 12, 2026 — CHC Navigation (CHCNAV), a provider of positioning and navigation technologies, revealed that MOVA has incorporated CHCNAV’s PointX satellite-based ground service and the StellaX high-accuracy positioning chipset into its NAVAX 5000 AWD smart robotic lawnmower, introduced at CES 2026. The combined positioning system is engineered to deliver centimeter-grade precision for boundary-free mowing, eliminating the need for users to set up a local RTK base station or pay for cellular data subscriptions.
Boundary-free robotic mowers are driving the adoption of digital perimeters and autonomous operation. Numerous systems depend on local RTK base stations, network-based RTK, or cloud-based services, which add complexity to installation and incur continuous service expenses. CHCNAV and MOVA created a positioning framework to overcome these constraints through satellite-transmitted corrections combined with integrated sensor fusion technology.
Positioning Engineered for Boundary-Free Mowing Without Local Base Stations
NAVAX 5000 AWD employs CHCNAV’s PointX satellite-based ground service to transmit GNSS augmentation signals through satellite communication. Powered by the StellaX high-accuracy positioning chipset, the mower can attain centimeter-grade positioning accuracy within coverage areas without needing users to install and upkeep an RTK base station at home. This methodology aims to minimize setup time, eliminate regular base station servicing, and bypass recurring cellular data charges for positioning corrections.
Sensor-Fusion Navigation for Challenging Yard Environments
Home lawns frequently feature trees, walls, fences, and buildings that impede satellite signal reception and cause multipath interference. NAVAX 5000 AWD integrates satellite-based RTK positioning alongside stereo vision and LiDAR technology to enhance navigational capability in these environments.
Leveraging PointX and StellaX, the system is engineered to provide reliable positioning and uniform path following in GPS-challenged zones where conventional GPS-RTK-only methods may struggle to maintain performance.
Rapid Initialization for Daily Operation
PointX integrated satellite ground services enable quick RTK initialization to minimize startup delays. This facilitates instant-start operation for standard mowing tasks and allows consecutive operations with little user involvement.
According to Qin Ling, Chief Technology Officer at MOVA: “NAVAX 5000 AWD integrates satellite-based RTK positioning with visual and LiDAR technologies to achieve robust performance in offline and challenging yard conditions. This ensures reliable mowing outcomes for consumers and promotes wider acceptance of boundary-free robotic mowing.”
Pan Jei, Business Line General Manager at CHC Navigation, commented: “This joint launch demonstrates the technological sophistication and market preparedness of our PointX satellite-ground service and StellaX high-accuracy positioning chipset solution. We continue to uphold an open-ecosystem strategy and will keep collaborating with worldwide innovators to establish integrated satellite-ground high-precision positioning as a fundamental standard for smart lawn mowing robots.”
