BRISBANE, Australia, Oct. 29, 2025 – Brisbane, Australia’s Nissan Arena is set to host the 2025 WPA Heyball World Championship from November 1 to 5, 2025. This major international sports gathering, featuring the world’s most skilled cueists, is expected to offer a unique combination of intense competition and rich cultural engagement.
The championship, organized by JOY Billiards Group with support from the WPA, WCBS, ANOC, and CSA, will adhere strictly to WPA Heyball Standard Rules. One hundred twenty-eight top-tier players, representing more than 70 countries and regions, will vie for the global title and a substantial USD 400,000 prize pool.
Leading the field will be Chinese sensation Shi Tianqi, renowned for her composed and accurate play, which has captivated audiences globally. British icon Gareth Potts is also slated to return, seeking to reclaim the championship crown. Beyond the individual accolades, this event signifies a peak in Heyball talent and a pivotal moment in the sport’s global expansion.
The championship’s opening ceremony on November 1 will feature a live performance by acclaimed Australian singer-songwriter Lenka Kripac. Famous for international hits like “Trouble Is a Friend” and “The Show,” Lenka’s distinctive voice has been prominently featured in various films, television series, and global advertising campaigns.
Lenka is expected to perform a selection of her classic tracks, including “Nothing is Gonna Hold You Back,” with her appearance also serving to champion Heyball’s ambition for inclusion in the 2032 Brisbane Olympic Games.

Beyond the intense competition, the championship aims to be a vibrant festival for attendees. Spectators will have the opportunity to claim free tickets and participate in a lucky draw offering attractive cash prizes:

To enter the draw, attendees must collect their complimentary tickets at Nissan Arena throughout the event and deposit the ticket stub into the designated draw box.
