HONG KONG, March 11, 2026 — Waton Financial Limited (NASDAQ: WTF), a provider of financial technology and securities brokerage services (“Waton” or the “Company”), announced today that its Hong Kong-based subsidiary, Waton Securities International Limited (“WSI”), has formed a strategic alliance with Pandaai Quantum Global Pte. Limited (an affiliate of Panda AI) and X-Tech (Beijing) Co., Ltd. (“X-Tech”), an entity associated with the Institute for Interdisciplinary Information Sciences (IIIS) at Tsinghua University (“Tsinghua IIIS”). The collaboration launches the “AI and Fintech Joint Lab,” dedicated to the research and development of autonomous AI trading agents designed to improve investment decision-making for clients.
This initiative integrates WSI’s financial and technical expertise with Panda AI’s quantum-inspired artificial intelligence methodologies and X-Tech’s research capabilities. The lab will be directed by Professor Li Jian of Tsinghua IIIS, a specialist in AI for quantitative investment. Professor Li will leverage his extensive background in machine learning and quantitative trading strategies to oversee the project. His research team at Tsinghua focuses on the core principles of AI and its application in financial decision-making, a subject he has explored through numerous academic publications and a widely read column on quantitative investment. His direct leadership is intended to bridge the gap between advanced theoretical research and practical, high-performance trading tools.
As a licensed securities broker, WSI will contribute its operational experience and trading system infrastructure to support the lab in developing accessible tools for retail investors.
“Collaborating with Panda AI and the Tsinghua-affiliated X-Tech marks a significant milestone for our organization,” stated ZHOU Kai, Chairman of the Board of Directors. “Under the guidance of Professor Li Jian, who possesses a distinguished record in AI and trading research, we aim to build robust, autonomous AI trading agents. We believe this partnership will enhance our technological capabilities and provide valuable support to both professional and individual investors within the evolving landscape of AI-integrated finance.”
Tsinghua’s IIIS, established by Turing Award laureate Professor Andrew Yao, is a premier research hub for interdisciplinary science, quantum computing, and artificial intelligence. Under the mentorship of faculty such as Professor Li Jian, the institute has produced over 1,000 graduates and garnered prestigious honors, including Sloan Fellowships and recognition at top-tier academic conferences. X-Tech is a technology firm incubated through the intellectual property of IIIS faculty and students. The lab’s primary focus will be the creation of real-time, data-driven trading agents, a mission that complements Waton’s existing product roadmap, including the TraderWTF platform. The ultimate objective is to facilitate the integration of real-world assets with AI and blockchain technology for seamless, anytime trading.
