The 10th Colourful World Cultural Exhibition and Exchange Event Opens in Beijing

BEIJING, Sept. 16, 2025 – The 10th Colourful World Cultural Exhibition and Exchange Event commenced on September 10 at Shougang Park’s Hall 9. Organized by the Information Office of Beijing Municipality, this event emphasizes fostering cultural exchanges among people within the “Belt and Road” initiative. It serves as a conduit for cultural dialogue between China and various nations, promoting inter-civilizational understanding through exhibitions, cultural displays, and tourism initiatives.

Attendees witnessed performances from countries including Uganda, Slovakia, and Indonesia, featuring traditional folk dances, indigenous music, and solo vocal acts representative of their respective cultures.

Karlis Eihenbaums, the Latvian Ambassador to China, stated in an interview that the event underscores Beijing’s and China’s significant capacity to draw global tourists. He highlighted Beijing’s abundant offerings, especially its distinctive travel opportunities and efficient transportation. Ambassador Eihenbaums remarked that a visit to China would not be complete without experiencing Beijing, and he urged Latvian nationals to explore the city.

Moulay Zaine Elmoussaoui, Minister Counsellor at the Embassy of Morocco in China, participated in the CIFTIS for the third time. He expressed his hope in an interview that this event would further enhance mutual understanding and cultural appreciation between the Chinese and Moroccan populations.

Sumudu Wilpatha, Counsellor of the Embassy of Sri Lanka in China, viewed the Colourful World as an outstanding venue for nations to present their unique assets. She pointed out that Sri Lanka and China have enjoyed a robust and consistent diplomatic relationship for 68 years, collaborating across economic, cultural, and educational sectors. She conveyed her wish that the event would foster expanded exchanges and cooperation between the two countries in numerous areas.

The 10th Colourful World Cultural Exhibition and Exchange Event constitutes a vital segment of the “Culture and Tourism Services” section within the China International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTIS), acting as a key forum for Beijing’s global cultural outreach. Featuring cultural showcases, tourism marketing, and engaging activities like “stamp collection with passports,” the event stands as a genuine international convergence rich in cultural legacy.

This year’s iteration unveiled innovative immersive and interactive experiences, powered by the AI-driven “Travel the World with One Click” function. These included the “Silk Road Journey” check-in initiative and live-stream connections linking indoor and outdoor spaces. The indoor “Colourful Space” showcased exhibition booths from 20 embassies in China, while the outdoor section presented attractions such as the “Time Corridor,” a themed illustration display, and a 10th-anniversary retrospective. These elements, combined with silhouette projections of the Beijing Central Axis and various interactive installations, provided a multi-sensory cultural journey.

Between September 11 and 14, the Beijing Performance and Arts Group, responsible for organizing the event, continued hosting diverse activities at Shougang Park. These encompassed cultural presentations, tourism campaigns, and various interactive engagements. Visitors could enjoy a rotating schedule of performances showcasing intangible cultural heritage, including acrobatics, traditional Chinese opera, quyi (a compilation of traditional Chinese oral performing arts), and puppetry.
