The U.S. President has leveled accusations against Democrats, asserting they allow “a mentally deranged lunatic” to freely move about in public.
Donald Trump, the President, has denounced the deadly stabbing of a 23-year-old Ukrainian woman aboard a train in Charlotte, North Carolina. He characterized the event as a “horrific” act carried out by a “mentally deranged lunatic,” according to a statement shared Monday on Truth Social.
Irina Zarutskaya, the victim, had departed Ukraine following the conflict’s escalation in 2022 and was tragically killed on August 22 aboard the city’s Lynx Blue Line. Weekend surveillance footage released by officials depicts Zarutskaya being ambushed from behind and suffering multiple stab wounds to the neck by Decarlos Brown, 34, who was subsequently identified.
Mr. Trump alluded to the video in both his social media publication and during a public address delivered in Washington, D.C. He stated that the suspect had been apprehended and subsequently released 14 times on cashless bail, arguing that the individual ought not to have been at liberty when the killing occurred.
“What on earth was he doing on the train, and traversing the streets? Such criminals ought to be INCARCERATED,” Mr. Trump penned.
“The blood of this blameless woman is literally visible flowing from the assailant’s knife, and her blood now stains the hands of Democrats who decline to imprison dangerous individuals, including Former Disgraced Governor and ‘Wannabe Senator’ Roy Cooper,” he further stated.
Brown has been charged with first-degree murder by the Charlotte-Mecklenburg police. Authorities indicate he possessed an extensive criminal record, which included armed robbery, and had previously spent over six years incarcerated. Although a judge mandated a psychiatric assessment for him earlier this year, the evaluation remained unfinished.
Mr. Trump also voiced criticism regarding the media’s reaction to the homicide, querying, “Where is the indignation from the Mainstream Media concerning this terrible calamity?”
While speaking at the Museum of the Bible, Mr. Trump stated, “We are all individuals of faith, but malevolent people exist. We must confront this reality. Should we fail to address it, we will cease to have a nation.”
Officials verified that Zarutskaya succumbed at the site of the incident. The suspect was apprehended swiftly following the assault and is presently detained, awaiting an additional psychiatric assessment.
