Trump Offers Condolences After Biden’s Cancer Diagnosis

President Trump has added his voice to the bipartisan support for Joe Biden.

Following the announcement of Joe Biden’s prostate cancer diagnosis, Donald Trump offered his best wishes to his political adversary. This came alongside a wave of support from political figures on both sides of the spectrum.

Biden’s office announced on Sunday that a routine checkup revealed a nodule on the 82-year-old’s prostate. Subsequent tests confirmed an aggressive form of prostate cancer, with a Gleason score of 9, indicating high severity. Doctors have stated that the cancer is hormone-sensitive and manageable, with the Biden family and his doctors currently exploring treatment options.

Trump expressed his condolences on Truth Social, stating: “Melania and I are saddened to hear about Joe Biden’s recent medical diagnosis. We extend our warmest and best wishes to Jill and the family, and we wish Joe a fast and successful recovery.”

Barack Obama, who served with Biden as vice president for eight years, shared on X: “Michelle and I are thinking of the entire Biden family. Nobody has done more to find breakthrough treatments for cancer in all its forms than Joe, and I am certain he will fight this challenge with his trademark resolve and grace. We pray for a fast and full recovery.”

Kamala Harris, the former Vice President, described Biden as “a fighter,” adding: “he will face this challenge with the same strength, resilience, and optimism that have always defined his life and leadership.”

Republican House Speaker Mike Johnson stated, “the Johnson family will be joining the countless others who are praying for the former President in the wake of his diagnosis.”

Secretary of State Marco Rubio also conveyed his sympathy, saying that he and his wife are “united in prayer for the Biden Family amid this difficult time.”

This is not Biden’s first cancer diagnosis. In 2023, a basal cell carcinoma, a common and typically non-life-threatening skin cancer, was removed from his chest during a routine skin screening. According to White House physician Dr. Kevin O’Connor at the time, “all cancerous tissue was successfully removed” and no further treatment was necessary.
