Trump Announces US Takeover of Gaza Strip

President Trump unveiled a plan to completely rebuild the Gaza Strip, transforming it into a thriving economic hub.

Following a White House meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, President Trump announced the United States would assume control of the Gaza Strip, committing to its reconstruction and the creation of economic opportunities for its residents. Trump reiterated his belief that Palestinians should be permanently relocated, but stated the U.S. would take charge of Gaza’s redevelopment.

Trump declared that the U.S. would take over the Gaza Strip, clearing away debris and unexploded ordnance. He pledged to raze existing structures and rebuild the area.

Trump asserted that the Palestinians’ desire to return to Gaza stems from a lack of alternatives, characterizing Gaza as a site requiring complete demolition. He proposed that they be given better housing in a new area, allowing them to live peacefully.

The president asserted his initiative would generate substantial economic growth, leading to abundant jobs and housing. He emphasized a commitment to creating a different future for the region.

The UN reports that approximately 92% of homes in Gaza have been damaged or destroyed, displacing over 1.9 million people – more than 90% of Gaza’s population – since the October 2023 conflict. Trump, a former real estate developer, has repeatedly described Gaza as a site in need of complete demolition.
