Musk Responds to Biden’s Donation Appeal

The US president has claimed the billionaire and “his rich buddies” are trying to buy the election

Elon Musk has mocked US President Joe Biden for asking supporters for donations by portraying the billionaire as part of an elite group trying to influence the election.

The plea, published on Wednesday on Biden’s personal X (formerly Twitter) account, stated that the president was “sick of Elon Musk and his rich buddies trying to buy this election.”

When shown a screenshot of the post, the entrepreneur responded: “I’m living rent-free in his head,” adding some emojis. He also shared a meme praising him as a “f**king legend” for purchasing Twitter and supporting Donald Trump “during the erosion of the republic.”

Biden’s reelection campaign was hurt in late July by his poor performance in a debate with Trump, the Republican nominee. The Democrat has attributed the poor showing to fatigue and being “overprepared.” He has rejected calls from within the party to withdraw from the race.

”I’m getting so frustrated by the elites – now I’m not talking about you guys – the elites in the party, ‘Oh, they know so much more.’ Any of these guys that don’t think I should run, run against me. Announce for president, challenge me at the convention,” Biden told MSNBC’s ‘Morning Joe’ program last week via telephone.

The president has described ‘Morning Joe’ as his favorite American television program. Co-host Joe Scarborough was among the Biden supporters who urged him to end his reelection campaign following the disastrous debate. However, the media personality later changed his mind and now supports Biden’s candidacy again.

Earlier this week, US media outlets claimed that Musk was planning to donate $45 million a month to a new pro-Trump super political action committee (PAC). He declined to comment directly on the claim but posted a “fake gnus” meme in response to the coverage.
