MMFF 2022 box-office update: ‘Deleter’ overtakes ‘Partners in Crime’?


MANILA, Philippines – Techno-horror and psychological thriller film ‘Deleter’ has overtaken comedy movie ‘Partners In Crime’ in the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) 2022 box-office race, according to a reliable source of showbiz columnist Ogie Diaz.

In a Facebook post on Sunday, January 1, Diaz shared that the Nadine Lustre-led film already earned Php 126 million gross for its 7-day run in cinemas.

Excellent word of mouth and winning big at the MMFF 2022 Awards Night catapulted ‘Deleter’ to climb to top spot after ranking second during the first day of the festival.

The Vice Ganda and Ivana Alawi film ‘Partners In Crime’ slipped to second place with still impressive Php 104 million. Unconfirmed report said the movie raked in Php 30 million earnings on December 25.

The heartwarming family-oriented film ‘Family Matters’ followed with Php 30 million gross. Just like ‘Deleter’, positive reviews also helped the film to boost box-office earnings.

Coco Martin and Jodi Sta. Maria’s ‘Labyu With An Accent’ still ranked no. 4 with Php 13.5 million earnings.


Here’s MMFF 2022 unofficial ranking, partial results and box-office earnings (as of December 31) according to a reliable source of showbiz columnist and talent manager Ogie Diaz:

1. Deleter – Php 126 million
2. Partners In Crime – Php 104 million
3. Family Matters – Php 30 million
4. Labyu With An Accent – Php 13.5 million
5. My Teacher – Php 8.7 million
6. Nanahimik ang Gabi – Php 3.7 million
7. Mamasapano – Php 2.7 million
8. My Father, Myself – Php 2.4 million

In the previous festivals, the MMFF committee agreed not to reveal the figures and rankings of the top grossers, leaving it to the prerogative of the producers to do so.

The organizers are also expected to release the official figures and rankings at the end of the festival on January 7, 2023.
