MANILA, Philippines – Heads up, train commuters!
The Metro Rail Transit (MRT), Light Rail Transit (LRT) and Philippine National Railways (PNR) will be suspending their operations for four days in lieu of the observance of Holy Week 2023 and to conduct their annual maintenance activities.
“To give way to the thorough maintenance activities being conducted yearly to our railway lines, please be informed that the Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT-3), Light Rail Transit Line 2 (LRT-2), Light Rail Transit Line 1 (LRT-1) and Philippine National Railways (PNR) will suspend operations on April 6 until April 9, 2023,” the Department of Transportation (DOTr) said in a statement.
In an advisory, Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA) Administrator Atty. Hernando Cabrera said the four-day shutdown will give the LRTA “enough time to conduct thorough maintenance on LRT-2 trains, station facilities and equipment to ensure the system’s reliability and safety.”
“We normally take advantage of the Holy Week to perform our yearly maintenance activities. With this, we appeal for understanding from the riding public and request that they plan their trip and take alternative transportation during this period,” Cabrera said.
DOTr will be resuming its rail transit services on April 10, Monday.

First trip during Holy Monday to Holy Wednesday for the LRT-1 is at 4:30 a.m.
Meanwhile, last trip from Baclaran Station is set at 10 p.m. while it’s scheduled at 10:15 p.m. from Roosevelt Station.

On Holy Wednesday, the last trip for the LRT-2 will be at 7 p.m. from Antipolo to Recto station and vice versa.

The implementation of the Modified Unified Vehicular Volume Reduction Program or the number coding scheme will be suspended from Holy Wednesday (April 5) at 5pm to 8pm and until Monday, April 10 (regular holiday), the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) announced.
