The owners of “Eat Bulaga,” Antonio “Tony” Tuviera and former congressman Romy Jalosjos, are allegedly engaged in a power struggle. Jalosjos is allegedly attempting to gain complete control of Television and Production Exponents (TAPE), the company that produces Eat Bulaga.

Part of Jalosjos’ plan is allegedly to get rid of his business partner, Tuviera, including the veteran hosts Tito and Vic Sotto and Joey de Leon (TVJ). He is also allegedly trying to cause the close-knit group to split by letting Jose Manalo, Wally Bayola, and Allan K stay as TVJ leaves. Another supposed rumor is that Jalosjos wants Maine Mendoza replaced with his own daughter. An emergency meeting was held on March 2 with the Tuviera, TVJ, and other hosts to discuss the expected Jalosjos’ takeover. While all of these remain unconfirmed, many netizens, celebrities, and entertainment hosts have been talking about the issue.

Cristy Fermin also talked about the “internal conflict” in the noontime show, which started even before the pandemic. She didn’t drop any names but confirmed that, as per her source, one person is trying to take over the show. She also disclosed that the other hosts of the program had made an agreement to stand by “the certain executive.” Once the executive is removed, they will follow him.

“‘Yung pong mga existing hosts ng programang ito, pag tinanggal ang ehekutibo at namumuhunan, sasama silang lahat sa tao na iyon,” she revealed.

Fermin also talked about loyalty and how it will impact the outcome. According to her, no host will continue on the show if the subject of loyalty is raised. “Wala. Alam mo ang Eat Bulaga ang tanging programa na kahit hindi na sikat na sikat ang kanilang miyembro ay binigyan pa rin ng oportunidad,” she said.

UPDATE: Will Willie Revillame replace TVJ in Eat Bulaga as trio allegedly starts own show?

As of right now, Eat Bulaga has not made a public statement about the situation.

Eat Bulaga is considered the country’s longest-running noontime variety show. It currently airs on GMA Network under a block-time contract.
