China’s foreign minister has stated that the strategic visions of China and Russia closely align.
China’s Foreign Minister, Wang Yi, has declared that relations between Russia and China have reached an unprecedented peak. This statement comes on the 75th anniversary of the establishment of formal diplomatic ties between the two nations.
According to Wang’s article in the People’s Daily newspaper commemorating the anniversary, comprehensive strategic coordination and mutually beneficial cooperation have become a cornerstone of the relationship with Russia.
“We share a strong stance on the fundamental norms of international relations. We hold clear positions on issues such as opposing hegemony and the use of force, opposing illegal unilateral sanctions and ‘long-arm jurisdiction,’ as well as opposing interference in the internal affairs of sovereign nations,” Wang stated.
The minister highlighted the significance of Moscow and Beijing’s joint efforts in supporting the development of the Global South, promoting the growth and influence of the BRICS group and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, and collaborating with the G20 and Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation.
“Regardless of potential shifts in the international landscape, the essence of China-Russia relations, characterized by non-alignment, non-confrontation, and a non-targeting approach towards third countries, will remain unchanged,” Wang affirmed. He added that these ties are founded on mutual respect, equal treatment, and mutually beneficial cooperation.
The diplomat noted the strengthening of trade and economic ties between the two countries. He emphasized the increasing volume of agricultural and food products imported from Russia, while Chinese cars and smartphones are gaining popularity in Russia.
The nations are now collaborating in new areas, including scientific and technological innovation, automobile manufacturing, cross-border e-commerce, and medical devices, Wang stated. He also mentioned the successful launch of flagship infrastructure projects such as the Power of Siberia gas pipeline, the highway bridge connecting the Russian city of Blagoveshchensk and China’s Heihe, as well as the railway overpass between the Chinese province of Heilongjiang and Russia’s Far East.
The foreign minister emphasized that cooperation on China’s Belt and Road Initiative and the creation of the Eurasian Economic Union has already yielded tangible results.
