Ma. Nida Suarez not only passed the LET, but she also ranked no. 10 at the age of 65. A graduate of the University of the Visayas-Dalaguete Campus, Suarez got a score of 92.60 in the board exam for Elementary Level, posted by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) on Friday, December 16.
Suarez’s son, Bezaleel James Moran, also took the same exam and passed it too. But he couldn’t help but be proud of his mother’s achievement. He posted on Facebook that they never doubted that she would ace the board exam, but they were all still surprised that she became a topnotcher.
He wrote, “MAAA! I never doubted you ever since. You never failed to impress me with your excellence! This day, you continued to prove what you’re capable of at the age of 65! 👏🏼Congratulations Ma! You surprised us! I LOVE YOU KAAYO MA! To THE OLDEST LET TOP NOTCHER! MA. NIDA M. SUAREZ, LPT! TOP 10.”
Bezaleel, a graduate of the University of Eastern Philippines in Catarman, Northern Samar, shared that his mother wasn’t able to finish her education degree during her time because they were struggling financially. Until finally, at the age of 59, she decided to pursue and finish her education.
The proud son revealed that it’s really his mother’s dream to be a LET topnotcher. He said, “Despite sa edad niya. Sabi nya gusto niya ma-achieve yung dream niya which is mag top sa exam. So nag graduate sya year 2020. Late po sya nakapag-take ng LET kasi nag covid at wala pong filing that time. Kaya nakasabay na lang siya sa aking batch magtake.”
Even Suarez’s alma mater couldn’t help but congratulate her for her success. They, too, didn’t doubt Suarez’s capacity. She is recognized as the university’s 2nd topnotcher. They thanked her for giving honor to their school and hoped that more of their students would be inspired by Suarez’s success. They also went on to recognize the support of the university’s administrators, dean, and staff.
They wrote on Facebook, “Another pride of the University of the Visayas- Dalaguete Campus , Ma. Nida Suarez, our SECOND TOPNOTCHER in the University! Congratulations, Ma’am, and thank you for giving honor and pride to our university and to the UV Dalaguete- College of Education. We never doubted that you would be one of the topnotchers in your batch. Kudos to all faculty and staff in the COED Department with the support and guidance of our previous dean, Dr. Priscila Mansueto, and of course with our very supportive campus administrator, Mr. Anthony Silva Teo.”
