Global Smart City Innovation Spotlighted at Opening of Tomorrow.City Shanghai 2025

SHANGHAI, Sept. 15, 2025 — The 2025 Tomorrow.City Shanghai (TCS 2025) commenced its proceedings at Zhangjiang Science Hall, operating under the guiding principle of “Challenge and Solution”.

With an expanded scope, TCS 2025 hosted representatives from over 110 cities spanning Asia, Europe, Latin America, and Africa. Discussions were primarily focused on four critical areas: Tomorrow.Technologies, Tomorrow.Mobility, Tomorrow.Environment, and Tomorrow.Utilities. More than 100 exhibitors showcased pioneering solutions, underscoring China’s increasing influence in smart city innovation and forging new avenues for international cooperation. The program included 20 Industry Roundtables, 32 City Shows, and over 40 Closed-Door Meetings, all designed to facilitate knowledge sharing and accelerate project execution.

The occasion also featured the presentation of the Region & China Smart City Awards. These accolades acknowledge Asia’s most impactful initiatives in digital transformation, the shift towards low-carbon practices, and public service advancements. Among the eight recipients of the Best Projects(X-SDI)Award were the Department of Town and Country Planning (PLANMalaysia), Malaysia Sepang Municipal Council, Thailand Chonburi City Municipality, alongside entities from Kazakhstan, New Zealand, Oman, the UAE, and China. The Leadership Awards – Leader distinction was bestowed upon the Principal Architect of Thailand’s Smart City Capacity-Building Programs and a member of the Core Execution Team.

During the opening ceremony, international delegates underscored the vital role of innovation in fostering resilient, sustainable urban environments. The inauguration of Tomorrow.City Community Shanghai established the inaugural physical hub of the global network, providing a reliable forum for collaborative efforts and accelerating project development. In conjunction with this achievement, the Collaboration List of City Challenges & Opportunities was unveiled collaboratively with 16 international cities, detailing key areas such as smart governance, green transition, and infrastructure renewal to cultivate enhanced worldwide partnerships.
